Privacy Policy

The Comic Scoop is designed for families. We collect only the information needed to provide subscriptions, deliver issues, support sign-in, and respond to feedback.
Information we collect
We may collect a parent or subscriber email address, subscriber name when provided, subscription status, feedback messages, and basic technical information such as app platform and version.
The mobile app does not ask children to create accounts and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. A parent or subscriber email is required only to confirm an active subscription and deliver the issue library.
Product analytics
We use PostHog to understand how the app is used and improve the reader experience. Mobile analytics are limited to explicit product events such as tapping Read now, successful downloads, feedback submissions, referral taps, the furthest issue page reached, and active time spent on issue pages.
We use a stable anonymous analytics identity for these mobile analytics events. We do not send the parent or subscriber email address to PostHog for mobile analytics.
On the website, when you sign in and read issues we record product usage under the same stable anonymous analytics identity: which issues are opened, pages viewed and reading time, PDF downloads, and the platform and device type used. We use this to understand how families use The Comic Scoop and to improve it. Your email address and name are never sent to our analytics provider.
For website visitors who have not made a cookie choice, analytics run in an anonymous mode that stores nothing on your device and forgets you when the tab closes. Cookies that connect visits, privacy-masked session replay, Google Analytics, and the Meta Pixel are used only if you choose Accept on the cookie notice. You can change your choice at any time via the Cookie settings link in the footer, or opt out of analytics entirely by choosing Reject non-essential or emailing us.
On the website, educator outreach links may carry a code assigned to a teacher or school. If analytics cookies are accepted, we associate that browser session with the assigned educator label in PostHog and record page visits, selected clicks, scroll-depth milestones, and a privacy-masked session replay. A link can be forwarded, so this data describes use of the link and does not prove who used the device.
Feedback
Feedback sent from the app is stored in our Supabase feedback table together with the signed-in subscriber contact details so our team can review and respond when needed.
Third-party services
We use service providers such as Supabase for subscription and feedback records, Resend for transactional email, Cloudflare R2 for issue files, and PostHog for website and mobile product analytics. These providers process information only to help us operate, secure, and improve The Comic Scoop.
Retention and deletion
We keep subscription, sign-in, issue access, and feedback records only for as long as needed to provide the service, respond to support requests, meet legal obligations, and maintain security. Subscriber accounts are created on the website, and readers can email us to request account deletion or data deletion. We may retain subscription and payment records where required by law.
